Production on Demand



Ursprünglich bedeutete PoD »printing on demand« 
und beschrieb die digitale Produktion von Büchern 
in niedrigen Auflagen.

Dass das Kürzel sich schnell inhaltlich veränderte, 
lag daran, dass bei näherem Hinsehen ebenso schnell klar 
wurde, dass diese Sicht viel zu kurz griff.

Folgender Text aus dem Jahr 2000 ist im Grundsatz 
unverändert richtig.

Printing on Demand - or - Short Run Printing?
Printing of ONE book - or - printing variety?
Why does a trade book publisher focussing fiction 
discuss PoD?

Because PoD is a solution for his business.
Because it helps him to reach better benefit.
Because it enhances his revenue.
Because it possibly will be the future technology 
of his business.
The goal is: using high end technology in order 
to solve serious publishing problems.
We try to integrate digital into traditional book production...
